Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an age limit?
Participants must be 12 years and older to enter the axe throwing facility.
Can we bring children under 12 who are not throwing?
No. Participants must be 12 years and older to enter the axe throwing facility. Children under 18 must have an adult guardian present at all times.
Can you bring your own food and drink?
Yes, absolutely! You can bring snacks and finger foods. There is no food served on site currently. You must be respectful and clean up after yourselves.
Will someone teach me how to throw an axe?
Absolutely! You will be with an instructor at all times. The beginning of your experience is spent learning the safety rules and procedures of how to handle an axe. You will never be in the range without an ax-pert!
What is the difference between a public and private lane?
NOTE: Due to COVID-19, all “public” lanes are suspended currently. Only “private” lanes will be booked.
With a public lane, there is the possibility that you will be placed in the lane with people other than your group of friends. If you wish to only be throwing with your personal group, choose the private lane option. This will ensure that no one else will be added your lane and you will only be throwing with your group.
What happens if my party is running late?
We try to accommodate you if you are late. As long as you have a private lane booked, you will just have less time to throw.
However, if you do not have a private lane reserved for your group, that means other groups are with yours and they get upset if we have to stop their throwing time to go over the rules & the instructions on throwing for you when they’ve heard it all before and they arrived on time. So please don’t be a late 🙂
how much does it cost?
It costs $29.00 per person plus tax for a one hour time slot. Other options are available including a one hour axe throwing session and a one hour escape room combo for the very competitive starting price of $49.99 per person plus tax. We also host birthday parties, corporate events, bachelor/ bachelorette parties, and more! Call for info and pricing.
Is axe throwing safe?
Yes. Throwing axes is similar to other target sports. Provided that participants follow the instructions and safety rules explained by our staff and use common sense, throwing an axe is safe. Our experienced and highly trained staff are in the throwing lanes with you at all times and monitor your throws for safety and guide you through the entire process. Only participants that have gone through our safety course are allowed to enter the throwing lanes.
How can I see available times?

WHAT IS PARKING LIKE?
We are located at the BACK of 2 Brighton Ave, Passaic NJ 07055. Follow the signs for “Brighton Asylum”. When you see the big #2 and “Manhattan Marketing” at the top of the building, you have arrived at the FRONT. Make the left right there, pass the stairs, drive up the hill, and make a right hand turn to go around to the back of the building.
DO YOU ACCEPT WALK-UPS?
At this time we only accept booking reservations online. This alerts our staff and allows us to make sure there is a dedicated axe master specifically for your group. You can even drive to our location, and reserve your spot from your phone right at our location at Hackshack.com, BrightonAsylum.com or BrightonAsylumEscape.com.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
Once a reservation is booked, there are no refunds. However, with 24 hours notice, we will gladly reschedule your reservation. We understand that life happens and things come up. With less than 24 hours notice, that booking will go on with or without your group present. Every booking has this cancelation policy attached to it that must be read and checked off before a booking can be reserved online.
WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE?
We encourage your whole group to arrive 20 minutes before your reservation time begins to ensure you get the most of your time slot.
CAN I BRING MY OWN AXE?
No, you cannot bring your own axe or hatchet, sorry! Our insurance policy requires all of the axes and hatchets to be supplied by us.
Safety First!
